Damien escapes with his life, while Michelle leaves the Termination Commission and Ezekiel. Michelle runs off with Damien, with the two having a very sensually abusive relationship until Michelle leaves Damien. Michelle has multiple partners until she runs into Damien again, who torments her again because of the virus having adverse effects on her hormones and desires. Despite Michelle's lingering love for Ezekiel, she cannot forget about the pleasure that Damien has brought her, no matter how abusive, as it has become an addiction to her. Eventually, Damien renews his love for Michelle's and she as well, and with Damien marking Michelle just as Ezekiel has chosen her as his mate, the two Grigori fight according to their earthbound culture and rules. Damien is nearly killed by Ezekiel, but Yomyael the Fury, former bodyguard of the multi-trillionaire Spaniard Armando Franco, saves him by transferring the virus from Michelle to him, as the viral properties include accelerated healing. Damien is forced to distance himself from Michelle out of love for her, with Michelle thinking that she is with child from her most recent coupling with Damien. Eventually, the two are bound to meet again under similar circumstances in a bar in Los Angeles.
