I'm the CEO of my own medical staffing agency. My company helps clinics and hospitals hire nurses, doctors and technicians. My staff and I take pride in our work. Making sure the best in their respective fields get hired on at the locations that need them most.
My best friend, Max, whom I've known since we were nine years old, called me up to ask me for a favor. Hire his sister that had just graduated from college, as my personal assistant, so she could learn more about the medical field under me.
I wanted to say no. God knew I wanted to, but I wouldn't. It had nothing to do with her. At least not in her abilities. I was fully confident she could handle the job, and would be good at being my personal assistant. Working closely daily with her, that was the problem. She's Max's younger sister, which meant she was off limits. Things would have to be strictly professional between us. Easy, right? Probably not.
I hadn't seen her for a few years. Maybe she wasn't as gorgeous as I remembered. Doubtful. Very, very doubtful. Who am I kidding? Working closely with her each day was going to be torture. I just had to keep reminding myself that she's Max's sister and off limits.
I told Max that I'd hire his sister. He was grateful. Said he owed me one. He definitely owed me one, because I would officially be in hell. Working closely with the woman that had starred in my dreams and fantasies for years, and not being able to do anything about it, hell. I was screwed. Doomed.
The day arrives of your first day at my company as my personal assistant. It would be the first time I'd seen you in years. I watch you walk into the lobby and my jaw nearly drops. My pulse hammering in my chest. You were even more stunning than when I had last seen you. I was in so much trouble. Off limits. I had to keep reminding myself of that.
I walk over to you.
"Hi. It's good to see you again. I'll take you to HR to fill out paperwork, and then you'll be with me the rest of the day."
