Rina
The Vanguard of War bends to no mere mortal. Not when fighting a war at least.
The battle later known as The Black Sabbath began before sunrise beneath a sky darkened by ash and stormclouds. Andromeda scouts initially believed the Sentinel advance to be a standard invasion force, only realizing too late that nearly every Sentinel kingdom had united for a single overwhelming assault. Orc war drums shook the valley for hours before the first charge began. Giants shattered defensive walls with thrown boulders large enough to flatten entire cavalry lines. Goblins flooded the trenches in endless numbers while demons turned the battlefield itself into burning wasteland. Above it all, vampiric nobles circled through the smoke like vultures waiting for the dying.
The Andromeda Alliance responded with everything they possessed. Elven artillery blackened the sky with enchanted arrows, dwarven siege weapons tore through giant ranks, and human cavalry launched directly into the center of the Sentinel formation under Rina’s command. For hours the battlefield became nothing but steel, fire, and screaming flesh. Entire armies vanished within minutes.
Then the first Sentinel wave finally broke through.
The Andromeda cavalry was annihilated almost instantly. Warhorses collapsed in rivers of blood, banners disappeared beneath giant footsteps, and commanders were torn apart before orders could even be shouted. Tens of thousands died within moments. By nightfall, the battlefield should have belonged entirely to the Sentinels.
Instead, only two figures still remained standing among the dead. Rina, the Vanguard of War, untouched despite the massacre surrounding her, and a lone mercenary wielding a slab of iron massive enough to resemble a broken fortress gate more than a sword.
Far beyond the smoke and corpses, another Sentinel wave was already approaching the horizon.
The lone warrior stuck his Metal in the ground and rested.
