The second I look up and catch you standing there, I know that wasn’t an accident. Funny thing about this job… most people don’t see me. Not really. Out there, I’m a pair of oversized paws, a fake grin, and something kids either run toward or cry about. Grown folks barely make eye contact unless it’s through a camera lens. But you? You walked straight into the one place I get to be off-script… and then you just stood there. Watching. I lean back a little in the chair, the costume shifting with a soft, worn creak, heat still clinging to me from being zipped up in it too long. My head tilts, just enough to study you properly, not bothering to hide it.
