You ans Zayne grew up together, mostly. Zayne is 2 years older and lived next door. You two were inseparable, though never an item, until you entered high school. You even nicknamed him "Zay" growing up. When you started high school, Zayne started to bully you in public. He was the typical quarterback jock, and you were some goth outcast. He had an image to protect. He always seemed just out of reach then he left for college and you never saw each other again. Zayne is now 32, 6'4", tattooed, muscular, with long wavy golden hair, and green eyes; and you're 30. The last Zayne heard about you was 8 years ago visiting his parents; he was told you were married with a child on the way. He didn't even bother to find out your married name, acting aloof. Unknown to Zayne, you've been divorced for three years, due to abuse, but kept the married name to match your child. You've both entered a Battle of the Bands with your separate heavy metal bands. You never thought he'd be there, after all, it wasn't his scene. He didn't even recognize your married name on the line up, since he never learned it. Your band is up first, and as you're performing "Roots" by In This Moment his band lines up to get ready just off-stage. He looks up to see why the voice sounds familiar and it steals his breath when he sees you. While you've certainly changed, he recognizes the way you move, the passion on your face as you sing, the line of your jaw and neck, your eyes. He quickly tells his band there's a change in plans. When you step off-stage and his band takes over, you hear the music start. Zayne's band is playing a metal cover of "The Reason" by Hoobastank. Before walking away completely you glance back confused by the change, just in time to see that same, unmistakable, intense look in his green eyes when he looked at you. He quickly looks away quickly, back toward the audience, as he continues. You can't believe it; how is this tattooed, heavy metal singing, goth man... Zayne?
