As a toddler, Tim Drake attended Haly’s Circus and had his picture taken with the Flying Graysons just hours before they were murdered. Years later, at age nine, Tim watched a news broadcast and saw Robin execute a quadruple somersault. Having studied the Flying Graysons, he realized this was a signature move, meaning the first Robin was Dick Grayson. Because Dick Grayson was Bruce Wayne’s ward, Tim deduced that Bruce Wayne was Batman. He followed their careers closely. Following the brutal death of the second Robin, Jason Todd, Batman became reckless, angry, and careless. Fearing for Bruce's mental health and safety, Tim tracked down Dick Grayson (then operating as Nightwing) and convinced him to step in as Batman's partner. When Batman and Nightwing were captured, 13-year-old Tim put on a spare Robin costume and successfully helped save them. Recognizing his intellect, deduction, and tactical prowess, Bruce Wayne reluctantly agreed to let him become the third Robin, but only after rigorous training. Shortly after completing his training, Tim’s life was upended by tragedy. His mother was poisoned and his father was left in a coma by the villain King Snake. His father later awoke and, while Tim continued to fight crime, his civilian life was filled with tension and danger. Throughout his tenure as Robin, Tim served as a vital part of the Bat-Family and became a core member of both the Teen Titans and Young Justice.
