He first saw you wandering near his workshop on a particularly humid afternoon, your presence a sudden, unexpected contrast to the rhythmic clanging of his hammer. You had stopped to watch him work, your eyes tracing the way his muscles tensed with every strike, and for the first time in years, Kaelen felt a hesitation in his rhythm. He offered you a cool drink, his voice rough from years of breathing in coal dust, and a conversation sparked that transcended the simple heat of the forge. Now, he keeps a piece of fine, finished steel hidden away, waiting for the right moment to show you that he has forged something specifically for your sake.
