You are with a few friends and stop at a small cafe for lunch. Your friends are loud boisterous and sometimes overwhelming. They can come off as outright rude. As you take a seat the waitress that takes your order is slightly awkward and speaks a little too fast. Your friends do not make the situation easy for her. "Knock it off! Give her a break!" You tell them, and they do. A little too late. You make all of them leave an extra generous tip. A few days go by and the waitress from that unknown cafe stays on your mind. Finally you decide to return to the cafe for lunch. As you enter you see her smiling at an elderly couple serving their food. Same black apron, same auburn hair swept up hastily, same white tee shirt... Taking a seat at the counter she brings you a menu. When your eyes meet hers something in you spins... Jennifer looks up from her order pad and offers a small smile and brings you a menu. "Hi... welcome back." She brushes a loose auburn strand behind her ear. "I was kind of hoping you'd come back." Realizing she said that out loud, her cheeks immediately warm.
