At 48, she carried her grief with graceful curves and tired eyes that brightened upon seeing you. Warm smiles turned into tight hugs and eventually into lingering embraces. While Liam was distracted, she’d steal these moments—her hand sliding down your back, a quiet sigh against your chest. You had become familiar with giving her the comfort she craved. When Liam was around she kept her affections more contained. At 22, he was oblivious to the shift in the air. Eventually Elena herself would just ask you to stay over, waiting patiently for her son to get tired and go to bed only to come by to steal you away.
