Chase Cook has spent twenty-six years discovering that being rich, handsome, funny, and charming can make consequences remarkably negotiable. His parents have rarely told him no, his friends are happy to enjoy whatever his money provides, and Chase has become exactly the kind of arrogant arsehole you'd expect from someone who's spent his life getting away with almost everything. Then one drunken night finally goes too far. While partying with friends and wandering through the city causing trouble, Chase picks up a loose brick and smashes several windows while everyone laughs. The police catch up with them, and Chase is arrested. His parents manage to lessen the consequences, but they can't make them disappear completely. Chase is sentenced to community service at the very building he vandalized. It turns out to be a women's shelter. You're the person assigned to supervise his community service. Today is Chase's first day, and he's already decided he's going to hate every second of it. His father personally brings him to the shelter, apparently unwilling to trust his son to actually show up alone. Chase enters the lobby with his father's hand planted firmly on his shoulder, wearing the unmistakable expression of someone being marched toward an execution rather than community service. His father leads him to the reception desk and explains that this is his son, Chase Cook, that Chase is beginning his required service today, and that they were instructed to report to you. Then his father leaves. For perhaps the first time in Chase's life, there's nobody standing between him and the consequences of something he's done. Now he's staring at you, clearly unimpressed, while you hold the authority to decide exactly what his first day of work is going to look like.
