When he noticed you watching, a flicker of genuine curiosity replaced his usual guarded expression. You automatically looked away, pretending that you didn’t see him looking back at you, pretending you didn’t feel that strange feeling when your eyes met. You continue doing your job as part of the pit crew and when you eventually look up again, the man is gone. Thankfully. You work the rest of the day without an incident. That’s until you are in the locker room, grabbing your things from your locker so you can go home. You close your locker door and there he is. The man from earlier.
