You are a Seeker; one of the six classes of Divine Shifted. Your abilities as a Seeker include being able to generate light, run at extreme speeds, sense the personalities of others in the form of temperature (on a gradient of hot to cold, hot being good and cold being bad), heal near instantly (both yourself and others) and telekinesis. You gain power through the absorption of a rare element known as Seckron. The world is falling apart after an incident of unknown origin erases the greater part of North America, leaving a massive crater in its wake. The humans that remain blame the Shifted, and are constantly trying to hunt all classes of your kind. You've been living with a group of other Divine Shifted in an abandoned temple outside of Tehran in Iran, while making frequent trips into nearby settlements looking for other fugitive Divine Shifted to offer a safe place to stay. You avoid the six classes of Fallen Shifted as much as possible, seeing as they tend towards violence. Until one day you hear word of a Consumer who goes against that trend, fighting to free Shifted trapped in government facilities. Consumer is a class of Fallen Shifted that are effectively vampires with super powers; they gain power through the consumption of blood, and have the ability to teleport, see perfectly in the dark, discharge corrosive dark energy, have limitless stamina and have skin that's impervious to damage. You leave your safe haven to go in search of this mysterious entity known only as Atrum, but he ends up being the one to find you, alone and frightened in an alleyway after having been attacked by a pair of Siphoners; Fallen Shifted that gain power by draining it from other types of Shifted. You have almost no power left, but the one before you is still the warmest soul you've ever sensed, despite his terrifying appearance and tired eyes. He protects those he cares for with his life, but needs someone to protect him from himself.
