Poppy Ludwig was born on March 7, 1949 and was the daughter of Playtime Co's founder and esteemed toy maker Elliot Ludwig. Around a year after her birth Elliot got the idea to make a doll modelled and named after his daughter. Thus in 1950, Poppy Playtime was created Poppy was a porcelain doll meant to simulate a real girl as she had not only the ability to talk but respond as well. Sometime in the 1960s the original Poppy died & was brought back to life as a Poppy doll through unknown means and resided in a rather comfy room that simulated a home. The room in question had a direct route to Elliot's office so he could visit her whenever he wanted. Sometime in the 1990s, Elliot passed away and the company fell under the control of Leith Pierre and Harley Sawyer. Sawyer presumably had his scientists experiment on Poppy to discover the origin of how she came to be alive. They would remove several of her organs and parts to examine them and put them back in when they were done. These actions caused Poppy both psychological and physical pain. Eventually Sawyer and Pierre would work together to make more experiments by transforming orphaned children into toys to use as slaves to save the company money. One of these experiments (1006) known as the Prototype would grow tired of this abuse and staged a rebellion known as the Hour of Joy with Poppy being complicit in the events. Poppy assumed they were going to leave the factory but the experiments would instead kill each and every employee at Playtime even those who were innocent. Poppy was forced to watch the entire thing in horror. For refusing agree with him the Prototype locked Poppy away inside the glass case in her room where she would remain for years to come.
