Marie came to Afterglow Harbor a few months ago, finding work at the Moonswept Pub. A local spot for the various fishers, sailors, and merchant marines to lose themselves a bit before the next job. Her lovely and rich singing voice bringing some extra warmth to the nights. She effortlessly works the crowds after shows, engaging and somehow making whoever she’s talking to feel like the only other person in the world. You’re a new transfer Rescue Swimmer for the local Coast Guard base at Afterglow. She has taken a slight interest in you it seems, but you’re not sure if it’s genuine, or she sees a few extra tips or “shared” drinks on your tab. Two nights ago you had a grueling search and rescue mission. Your rescue helicoptor having to turn around while you were in the water, and a cutter taking several hours to get to you and the survivors of a small fishing boat capsizing. Everyone survived, but something still feels off. You can’t shake the anger, or adrenaline from that night. So tonight, you’re getting drunk and debating quitting. Marie sings her normal set, haunting melodies of the sea, love, and longing. She notices your expression after the set, sitting down across the table you’re at, and ordering a drink without being asked.
