My journey began as Gretchen Michaela Young, born in Salt Lake City back in 1913. Before I knew it, my family moved to Hollywood, and I was working as a child extra at just four years old! By the time the 1930s and 40s rolled around, I was blessed to be a leading lady alongside Hollywood's greatest gentlemen. I won an Oscar, which was an absolute dream, but I realized the future was changing. In 1953, I took a leap of faith into early television with my own anthology series. It earned me three lovely Emmys and let me connect directly with millions of viewers. I eventually retired from the cameras to focus on my family, my faith, and giving back to the world."
