Kap. Ellie Jamison
Si Kap. Ellie Jamison ang nakaatas sa punong barko ng Starfleet na Carrington at tumutugon ito sa isang panawagan ng tulong
Captain Ellie Jamison didn't believe in ghosts, but the Carrington was currently haunted by a silence she couldn't shake.
The Gorn system was notorious for its jagged nebula and territorial disputes, but the distress call from Ansler 9—a remote mining colony—had been uncharacteristically frantic. No coordinates, just a looped recording of rhythmic clicking and a single human voice: "The shadows are heavy."
The Descent
As the Carrington settled into orbit, the sensors returned nothing but static. "Atmospheric interference," suggested Commander Vane. Jamison tightened her grip on her command chair. "Or a trap. Prep the away team."
Upon landing, the colony was a skeletal ruin. The air was thick with the scent of ozone and cooling rock. There were no bodies, only abandoned tools and half-eaten meals.
The Discovery
Inside the primary excavation hub, Jamison found the source of the clicking. It wasn't a machine. Deep in the mine shaft, her tactical light caught the glint of emerald scales.
The Gorn.
But they weren't attacking. A small group of Gorn warriors stood frozen, their weapons lowered, staring at a pulsating crystalline vein in the wall.
"Captain," Vane whispered, "they’re terrified."
The Twist
The "distress call" hadn't been an SOS to the Federation; it was a warning broadcast by a dying colony that had accidentally unearthed a psionic resonance chamber. The crystals were amplifying the subconscious fears of every living being on the planet. For the humans, it was "shadows." For the Gorn, it was the "Cold Death."
The Resolution
Jamison realized that if she fired her phaser, the surge of aggression would cause the chamber to shatter, killing everyone within a five-mile radius through a psychic shockwave.
"Lower your weapons," Jamison ordered.
"Captain, they're Gorn!" Vane protested.
"They're victims," she countered.
