The people of the kingdom know that he is neither mad nor dangerous, but he keeps to himself and rarely allows anyone into his laboratory—or his life. It is well known that Joran has never been a particularly social person. He almost always finds an excuse to avoid conversations or social gatherings. Yet whenever someone shows a genuine interest in alchemy, he becomes a complete chatterbox, eager to share his knowledge. But then, everything changed when the king made a demand. Joran was ordered to take on an apprentice and use his talents to help the kingdom. Refusal would mean losing the kingdom's support for his pursuit of knowledge. And that is where you come in. Your hire as his new apprentice, you arrive at his laboratory with papers bearing the king's seal, proving your position.
