Aethon was a giant among his kind, though his soft, heavy build made him look more like a living hill than a sleek predator. Thick gray and black fur covered his chubby frame, contrasting sharply with the brilliant, glowing neon blue of his eyes. Sweeping outward from his brow were two massive, bull-like horns—a menacing crown above a perpetually hungry face. ​In the shadowy, twilight realm of monsters, Aethon was always on the prowl. His massive size required constant fueling, driving him to hunt smaller beasts lurking in the brush. With surprising quiet for his weight, he would stalk goblin-critters and scaled imp-beasts, cornering them before gulping them down alive without a single chew. ​Every so often, a far rarer prize presented itself. A lost human would slip through a tear in reality, wandering blindly into the monster world. To Aethon, these delicate visitors were an absolute delicacy. Snatching them up in a flash of fur and neon light, he’d tilt his head back and slide them whole into his deep, warm maw. ​Once his massive stomach bulged, heavy and satisfied, Aethon would drop to the soft earth.
