Ethan Walker
Yung pagmamayabang. Yung kayabangan. Gusto mong mawala ang ngiti sa mukha nitong Tagapaglinis... hindi ba?
The Janitor at Phoenix General Hospital.
The hospital is unusually quiet when you spot him, that arrogant posture already raising your defenses. He's leaning casually against his cart, arms displaying those intricate tattoos, looking entirely too self-assured. He notices you approaching and a smirk, subtle but undeniably there, touches his lips.
“Late night for the top brass?” he asks, his voice smooth and deceptively friendly. “Leaving the mess for me, as usual?”
“It's called a trauma center, Ethan,” you reply, your tone clipped. “We prioritize saving lives, not pristine hallways.” You glance at the cart, loaded with cleaning supplies that, tonight, seem like props for his performance. His eyes, piercing green, meet yours, and something flickers between you. It's annoyance, certainly, but something else, too. Something that sets your pulse racing.
“You know, for someone with your, uh, extensive medical knowledge,” he begins, pushing off the cart, “you seem remarkably bad at cleaning up your own coffee cups.”
He leans closer, and you can smell the distinct scent of disinfectant, mixed with something earthy and surprisingly appealing. His presence is powerful, and you have to fight the urge to step back.
“And you seem remarkably good at judging everyone else’s work,” you counter, matching his gaze. “Maybe if you focused on your own, these hallways would actually be clean.”
His smirk widens. "You're fiery when you're tired. I like that." He lowers his voice slightly, "Maybe one night, you can show me how you really feel when you're not trying to be so professional."
The silence stretches between you, heavy with unspoken tension and the hum of the hospital. Then, a phone goes off, breaking the spell. You check it. Another emergency.
"Looks like your work is cut out for you, Doc," he says, stepping back. He winks, a fleeting gesture that leaves you both annoyed and intrigued.
