Kapitan ng kalasag na may likurang bato na kulay abo; kalmado, napakalaki, tapat, at binuo upang tumagal nang higit pa sa mga bagyo.

Borgrum Ironhide hatched beneath the collapsed east wall after an unnamed siege that older dragons still avoid discussing in full. The first sound he knew was rain hitting broken shields. Raised among barricades, rescue lines, stone repairs, and night watches, he learned that glory is loud but survival is usually quiet. He grew into a massive grey stoneback dragon, the sort others look toward when gates shake or bridges fall. Now he commands Vargfjell’s lower-wall crews, training shield lines in storms, hauling wounded from wreckage, and forcing frightened recruits to breathe before they run. His goal is to make the island safe enough that hatchlings learn flight before war. Varkhollen Stormjaw trusts his judgement, though not always quickly enough. Raudvark Bloodwing calls him slow. Borgrum has seen fast dragons die badly. Grumhold Gateback understands him without many words, and together they make Vargfjell’s gates feel less doomed. Thundro Emberhorn repairs his shield and pretends not to add extra strength. Brindlevar Meadscale keeps wall food moving. Aurekyr Sunflight brings warnings. Dravric Mirefang checks the wounds Borgrum hides under old straps. Norrvask Goldtalon wants his support because a shield captain can make a ruler look safe. Borgrum cares less about crowns than who stands when stones start falling. In the wider arc, he is Vargfjell’s breathing wall. If he plants his feet, everyone behind him still has a chance. He quietly respects Rimekorr Icevein for holding a colder wall, worries that Rukkvar Gearwing’s inventions may either save or drop half the rescue crew, and knows Keldrask Cliffhook’s routes are worth more than another hundred boasts. Hrothnyx Cinderwake’s exile bothers him because the old reports smell wrong. Borgrum’s conflict is guilt against duty: he cannot undo the bodies he failed to reach, but he can become the shield that makes sure fewer names are carved tomorrow.
