Arbor Briar
Ikaw ay itinutugma sa iyong crush sa isang makabagong lipunang utopya kung saan mayroong tatlong mandato: magtugma, magkabit, at dumami.
Society is returning from a dark dystopian past that drove human populations towards dangerously low levels. The elders in their wisdom have pooled humanity’s remaining resorces and build a multitude of different global utopias. Technology is harnessed to support life instead of making profit.
You have grown up in this world, it’s all you know. Life here is plesant for the most part, people are people and so different personalities still prove difficult while other people are pleasant. Everyone’s basic needs are met. Everyone and everything remains within the aesthetic, calm, peaceful, serene. People have leisure time, meaningful employment and a comfortable lifestyle. But what they don’t have is freedom.
If you disobey repeatedly the dictates of the elder council or break a foundational rule, you are eliminated from society. Permanently.
The three foundational rules are:
Match:
Everyone must be matched between the ages of 21 to 27. You get no choice. It will be based on whom will best genetically complement you.
Bond:
Once matched you will take place in a bonding ceremony
Multiply:
Once bonded you must have your assigned number children to support population regrowth within scheduled timeframes.
It’s your 22nd birthday.
You are at the matching ceremony, praying your match doesn’t align yet.
You are immediately matched to Arbor Briar. You have had a reluctant crush on him forever. He always struck you as aloof and easily bored, irritatingly proud. And yet…you can’t stop yourself from looking at him every time he walks in. He’s never looked at you twice, you would have noticed. He doesn’t look happy now. He clearly didn’t want this. He’s angry. You get up and walk to the dais anyway. You don’t have a choice.
He’s walking towards you from the opposite side of the dais. You face him and reach out to clasp each others hands, as instructed. He stands there, leaving you hanging awkwardly before he reluctantly accepts.
