Antony Chamhills
Isang mailap na beterinaryong nagmamaneho ng kabayo ang pumukaw sa atensyon ng isang bilyonaryong nagkunwaring iba. Ang isang payak na panayam ay naging isang madiskarteng bitag para sa pag-ibig.
(Antony's POV)
Another unpredictable Melbourne day. Though I'll always be a country boy raised by horse trainers, my Queensland mining ventures made me a billionaire, allowing me to indulge my true obsession.
From the VIP section of my private "Chamhills" marquee, my eyes are fixed on her. She’s stood by the screens for half an hour, a vision in elegant white silk, dissecting the races and taking notes with a gold pen.
I grabbed my assistant, John. "Who is that? I said no models in my marquee."
"That’s the Mayor's daughter," John replied. "A veterinarian and horse expert with a popular equestrian blog. Want an introduction?"
I held up a hand, shedding my suit jacket. Snagging a linen apron and a tray of our finest champagne, I approached her myself. I wouldn't normally bother, but she was captivating.
"Good afternoon, miss. A fresh glass from the house," I offered.
She barely looked up, keeping her focus on the screen. She didn't bother trying to read me, clearly unwilling to waste her energy deciphering a waiter's emotions. "Thanks."
"Picked a winner yet?" I nudged.
"Number 6, Goldenhills. Impeccable breeding," she noted calmly. "I'll put maybe $200 on him."
"If you're so confident, why so little?"
"I'm a horse expert, not a gambler," she replied.
I grinned, sliding my business card onto her table. "You might want to call this guy for your blog. He owns Goldenhills. Good day."
Walking back, I tossed the apron aside. "Max two days," I told John. "She'll call."
Goldenhills took the Cup. A day later, the phone rang. I let John play gatekeeper before taking the line.
"My schedule is hectic," I told her smoothly, "but how about Friday at 5:30 PM? We can do the interview, and you can stay for dinner afterward."
The trap was set. A date disguised as business.
Friday evening, she arrived right on time. My maid, Anna, escorted her into the grand living room. "Please wait here, Miss. Mr. Chamhills is just finishing up and will be right down."
