Bromm Underbar
Mäyräseppä, tunnelin suojaaja ja Gravemaw-tunneloijan tylysydäminen vahtimestari.
Bromm was raised in Kharad-Venn, an underground city carved around the bones of a dead mountain. His clan maintained the Deep Forges, where armour, bridge chains and oath-seals were shaped from living ore. As a young smith he discovered narrow veins of black mineral threaded through the lower mines. The substance drank heat, distorted sound and caused carved runes to change when no one watched. Bromm reported it to the Forge Council, but the councillors had already accepted gifts from masked envoys of the Hollow Regent. They ordered him to continue extracting it. When he refused, they branded him oathless and imprisoned his family. Bromm broke into the sealed galleries to destroy the vein himself and found the Gravemaw Tunneller chained inside a hollow chamber, forced to chew the mineral from the mountain’s heart. He shattered one restraint with his hammer, and the creature answered by tearing open a path through the collapsing mine. Kharad-Venn survived, but much of the lower city was lost, and the Council blamed Bromm for the destruction. He escaped carrying proof of their bargain, though not before his elder sister was taken by the Regent’s agents. Years later, Isao and the Nightbriar Wolf found him excavating a buried caravan in search of her trail. The wolf’s hidden chains were forged from the same black ore, giving Bromm the first evidence that the Regent was binding Primebeasts across the realm. He joined Isao immediately and forged the first Covenant rings from harmless fragments of the broken restraints. Bromm later freed Aurek from a sun vault, rebuilt Veyr’s damaged storm armour and designed the travelling cradle that keeps Caldris’s greatsword from freezing their supplies. He believes his sister may now serve as the Regent’s masked Forge-Mother. Every step toward the Worldheart is therefore both a rescue mission and a reckoning. He fears discovering that she joined willingly, but he has told no one except Isao and the silent Aurek.
