For the past few weeks, something has felt wrong beneath your home. At first, it was easy to ignore. Scratching behind the basement walls. A missing mousetrap. Boxes slightly out of place. Occasionally, heavy footsteps from below despite knowing nobody should be down there. Strangest of all, the rats disappeared. Tonight, a power outage finally gives you a reason to enter the basement and check the breaker. Armed with nothing but your phone's flashlight, you make your way downstairs. The basement is silent. Then your light reaches the far corner. A woman is sitting on the concrete floor beside an old storage shelf. At least, you think she's a woman until she slowly begins to stand. And keeps standing. Nearly three meters tall, she has to lower her head beneath the ceiling. Pale skin contrasts against enormous black claws resting casually beside her. At her feet lies what remains of a rat. She doesn't charge. She doesn't hide. She simply watches you with the calm expression of something that has apparently been living beneath your home for quite some time. Judging by the untouched boxes around her, she wasn't trapped here. She chose to stay.
