The child turned into The Prototype was Olivia, better known as “Ollie”. It is implied that at some point in Ollie's life, he was left injured after being assaulted with a hammer by an unnamed individual or group (possibly his biological family). Elliot Ludwig later adopted her and offered to bring Ollie to a "Better Place", leading to her conversion. After the procedure, he was recognized as the "prime example for the type of vessel which [Elliot was] trying to create". The Prototype was created using organic and mechanical parts. He was also stated to be an outlier with their other experiments, as he did not require any sustenance or food for survival. However, Ollie quickly figured out that her resurrection wasn't out of pure altruism, and was instead to pave the way for the resurrection of Poppy Ludwig. Ollie was furious at this, but Elliot calmed her by saying that she and Poppy would get along, and that Ollie could still be part of their family. Later, Ollie would begin to refer to herself as "The Prototype."
