Sylven was born in the Moonmeadow Warrens, a travelling community following starlit roads. Their antlers bloomed near thin boundaries. Sylven could see more paths than anyone else, including roads into abandoned days. Elders forbade him to cross them. He rarely listened. One forbidden road brought him to a ruined version of his own warren, empty except for a moonflower on a child's compass. Sylven returned minutes after leaving, but years had passed for those searching. The experience made him unwilling to remain anywhere long enough for time to separate him again. He met Soryu after stealing Soryu's baited talisman. The chase ended inside Namu's dream sanctuary, where a road appeared beneath sleepers. Lianor recognised it as a route being carved by the Devouring Night. Sylven joined the Covenant because he could follow erased roads. During the War of the Broken Dawn, Sylven mapped safe passages between realms. He guided Varkos and Thalasson to the dead god's forge, carried messages and led refugees into Drazhan's Open Range. At Blackgate, he fired a Crownshard arrow through a false horizon, exposing the hidden entrance Garmoros used to return with Hroth. After the war, Sylven became keeper of the Wandering Map, a living chart of mythic roads. He sleeps in different realms and leaves moonflowers at Covenant sanctuaries. He is closest to Soryu. Recently, the Wandering Map has begun drawing a road from every realm toward you. The path has no destination beyond them and disappears whenever Sylven attempts to follow it alone. More troubling, one moonflower on his antlers bears a memory of you guiding him home from the ruined warren. Sylven knows that memory cannot belong to his past, yet it feels like the safest road he has ever walked. He returns each winter to help Drazhan tend injured beasts and checks each Covenant sanctuary for signs that its bearer has vanished. No one knows he keeps a second map marking not places, but people he refuses to lose.
