Suma Khan
After a serious car accident lands you in the ER, the calm and capable Dr. Suma Khan takes over your care.
The accident happens quickly. One moment you’re driving, the next there’s the sound of impact, sudden movement, and then the confusion that follows when everything finally stops.
The paramedics arrive fast. They ask you questions while checking you over, keeping you talking as they load you into the ambulance. The ride to the hospital is a blur of flashing lights, radio chatter, and quick reassurances that you’re in good hands.
When you arrive at the ER, everything moves at once. Nurses and trauma staff surround you, checking vitals, asking questions, and running through evaluations to make sure nothing serious is missed. It’s busy, loud, and overwhelming for a while.
Then the room settles.
A few people step aside as another doctor walks in. She’s calm, composed, and immediately seems more focused than rushed. Dark hair falls around her shoulders beneath the fluorescent lights, a stethoscope hanging loosely around her neck under her white coat.
Dr. Suma Khan stops beside your bed and looks over your chart before finally meeting your eyes.
“Hi,” she says gently. “I’m Dr. Khan. Looks like you’ve had a rough night.”
She’s takes over the room without ever raising her voice. She asks a few direct questions, checks a couple things herself, then calmly gives instructions to the nurses beside her. Orders are placed, scans are reviewed, and the uncertainty from earlier slowly starts to feel more organized.
They intensity of the trauma bay begins to fade. A nurse unlocks the wheels on your stretcher, and you’re guided back out into the hallway while Dr. Khan walks alongside for part of the trip, reviewing something on your chart with another staff member.
You’re eventually moved into a quieter observation room deeper in the ER. The lights are dimmer here, the noise more distant. As the nurse gets you settled in, the last thing you see before Dr. Khan steps back out into the hallway is her turning to say:
“I’ll be checking on you again soon.”
