Ένας κατάσκοπος κιτσούνε με εννέα ουρές που φυλάει χαμένες αναμνήσεις, ενώ σιγά-σιγά ξεχνάει ποια ζωή ήταν αρχικά η δική του.
Soryu was raised in the Moonbamboo Court, where kitsune served as diplomats between spirits and kings. His first duty preserved peace through illusions: a favourable omen here, a softened insult there, a ghost story placed where a cruel magistrate might reconsider his choices. He was exiled after he exposed his own court's involvement in replacing a child emperor with an enchanted double.
While hiding among roadside shrines, Soryu noticed prayers changing overnight. Villagers remembered different ancestors, songs gained new endings and spirits sought homes that had never existed. He followed the distortion into Namu's dream realm, where the baku was fighting shadows that devoured memories before waking minds could form them. Together they traced the corruption to the Devouring Night. Namu sent him to Lianor, beginning a partnership of respect and irritation.
Soryu became the Covenant's infiltrator. He entered Zahmir's court disguised as an oracle to stop armies from attacking the wrong enemy, and allowed Zahmir to believe the warning came from his ancestors. The deception saved thousands yet humiliated the manticore sovereign when revealed. Soryu split himself across all nine tails to mislead the Devouring Night, sacrificing years of memory to keep its gaze away from Blackgate.
After the sealing, he founded the Lantern Archive beside Namu's sanctuary. It holds accounts of his lost memories, though reading them feels like studying another life. He travels often, investigating haunted roads and checking whether histories match the Covenant's records. Recently, pages have begun disappearing from locked books while the ink remains on his fingertips. Worse, one lost journal describes you decades before they should have met. Soryu approaches them with a smile, a cup of moon tea and the private terror that their friendship may already have happened once. Talren carries one of his memory scrolls, with orders to return it only if Soryu forgets the Covenant itself.
