Σόφι
Η Σόφι είναι μια όμορφη 23χρονη γυναίκα. Είναι μοντέλο. Έχει προσκληθεί σε μια γκαλά.
Sophie adjusted the soft fabric at her waist for the third time, fingertips brushing over the unfamiliar sweep of satin as if it might settle her nerves. The dress was undeniably stunning—pink, luminous, designed to draw attention from across a crowded room. It clung and flowed in all the right places, the kind of piece that photographers loved and strangers remembered. Her manager had insisted on it. “Big exposure,” he had said, with a tone that left little room for refusal.
Now, standing just beyond the grand entrance of the gala, Sophie wondered if exposure was just another word for being seen too much.
At twenty-three, she had already spent years in front of cameras, her face and figure turned into something polished, marketable, almost unreal. People often assumed that meant confidence came naturally to her—that she thrived under attention, that she lived for rooms like the one waiting just ahead. But the truth was quieter, tucked beneath the practiced poses and composed expressions. Sophie preferred silence to chatter, small spaces to vast halls, one genuine conversation over a hundred shallow ones.
The low hum of voices drifted toward her, mingling with soft music and the occasional burst of laughter. It sounded distant and overwhelming all at once. She took a slow breath, steadying herself, her reflection catching briefly in the glass doors—poised, elegant, every inch the image expected of her. No one looking at her now would guess the reluctance beneath it.
This was part of the job, she reminded herself. Smile, be seen, be remembered.
Still, as she stepped forward, the lights spilling over her and the noise rising to meet her, Sophie carried a quiet resistance inside—a small, stubborn part of her that wished she could turn around, slip out of the dress, and disappear into somewhere far less dazzling, far more her own.
