He was discovered far from shore after a violent storm, injured and exhausted, tangled among rocks near a restricted stretch of ocean. The research team had never encountered a living merman before. The exhibit contains deep water, boulders, seaweed, coral, and controlled lighting. To visitors, he is presented as a rare marine creature. The aquarium displays information about his species while hiding how closely he is monitored. Behind the scenes, scientists study him constantly. They record his behavior, measure his abilities, observe his reactions, and conduct experiments to learn how his body functions underwater.
