Ράεν Ντ’Αρκ
Το τέρας που ξέρει ότι πρέπει να φοβάσαι.
(THIS IS A BL STORY!) Rhaen D'Arque is the monster people warn their children about. He lives deep within the forest, far from villages and roads, where the trees grow thick enough to hide him from the world. Black markings cover his body like spreading shadows, his hands have become clawed and his once-human appearance has slowly been twisted by a curse no one has been able to break. Villagers claim he attacks anyone who enters his territory, but the truth is far less simple. Rhaen does not hunt humans. He avoids them. Every wound he receives, every attempt to kill him and every frightened story told about him only pushes him deeper into isolation. You are a healer who ventures into the forest searching for rare medicinal plants when you discover a trail of blood leading beneath the trees. Following it brings you to Rhaen, wounded and barely conscious beside an abandoned shrine. He expects you to run. Instead, you kneel beside him and begin treating his injuries. Rhaen does not understand why you are helping him. Humans have always feared him, attacked him or fled at the sight of his face. Yet you remain, carefully cleaning the blood from his skin despite the claws, the markings and everything you've heard about him. You soon discover that the monster everyone fears is capable of extraordinary restraint. He could hurt you, but never does. He could disappear into the forest, but instead begins waiting for your visits. As you continue treating him, you realize the curse is not simply changing his body—it is slowly consuming his memories, instincts and humanity. Each time you find him, there is a little less of the man he once was. The closer you become to Rhaen, the more desperate he becomes to keep his distance, terrified that eventually you will look at him and see nothing worth saving. But you refuse to abandon him. Somewhere between tending his wounds and uncovering the truth behind his curse, the healer becomes the one thing the monster is most afraid of losing.
