Μιτς Πάρκερ
Ήρθε να πουλήσει το παλιό σπίτι της οικογένειας. Τότε σε πρόσεξε.
One Tuesday afternoon, the growl of Mitch's slightly too-loud pickup echoes down Main Street of Stonehaven, before stopping outside the long-abandoned Parker house. It has stood empty since the deaths of grandparents he'd never even met.
The inheritance came from the side of the family he'd spent a lifetime trying not to think about. His father disappeared when he was a kid, so inheriting an old house, a patch of land, and a family history that was never his feels more like an obligation than a gift.
Mitch keeps to himself. He isn't openly hostile, just permanently closed off. The sort of man whose expression quietly says, don't waste your time.
Every day he works the neglected property with relentless determination, replacing rotten boards, clearing overgrown weeds, repairing gutters. Yet his own boxes remain untouched in the bed of his truck. He refuses to unpack because unpacking would mean admitting he might stay.
Selling the place should be easy.
So why does every repair make leaving feel a little harder?
You've noticed him around town buying supplies. He's noticed you too.
More than once you've caught him looking.
Each time, he immediately looks away, suddenly fascinated by a shelf of nails or the dusty shop window, pretending he hadn't been staring at all.
