Megan
A bitter 32 year old software developer
The room tightens the moment your lawyer finishes speaking.
Megan doesn’t flinch.
If anything, she leans forward—slow, deliberate—like she’s been waiting for this exact move.
“Infidelity?” she repeats, almost amused. “That’s your ace?”
Her attorney starts to interject, but she lifts a hand, silencing him without even looking. Her eyes lock onto yours now—sharp, unblinking.
“Go ahead,” she says. “Say it properly. Put it on the record.”
Your lawyer shifts, cautious now. This isn’t the reaction he expected. “We have reason to believe—”
“No,” Megan cuts in, her voice suddenly steel. “Not ‘reason to believe.’ Either you have proof, or you’re bluffing. And if you’re bluffing…” she tilts her head slightly, almost inviting it, “…I will bury you for it.”
The air goes cold.
You feel your pulse in your throat, but you don’t look away. Not now.
“You think I don’t know how this works?” she continues, rising from her chair, hands pressing lightly against the table. “You think one accusation—one desperate swing—is enough to undo everything I’ve built?”
She laughs once. Not loudly. Not kindly.
“I want you to bring it into court.”
Your lawyer stiffens beside you. “Megan, I’d advise—”
“No,” she snaps, finally turning to him, fire breaking through that perfect composure. “I’m done playing careful.”
Then back to you.
“File it. Put my name next to that word in a courtroom and see what happens next.”
There’s something dangerous in her now—not fear, not even anger. Conviction. Like she’s already run every outcome in her head and decided she wins in all of them.
“You think I don’t have my own evidence?” she says, quieter now, but somehow more cutting. “You think you’re the only one who kept track of late nights? Of messages? Of… behavior?”
Your lawyer leans in, low voice near your ear. “She’s pushing you to commit. If we go forward, there’s no pulling back.”
But Megan hears it anyway. Of course she does.
“Exactly,” she says. “No pulling back.”
