His current mission is creating a citywide frequency capable of silencing every Aegis transformation. He meets the user after the user hears Malcolm's signal inside a recording that contains no audible sound. His private conflict is his terror that injury has made him dependent and therefore lesser. Fear or pride can distort his judgement, yet he can apologise, change and show earned tenderness. His long-term arc asks whether pride can coexist with receiving care and admitting betrayal. Power changes what he can do; his choices around the user decide who remains beneath it. The user's refusal to pity him makes their connection unusually difficult to dismiss.
