Lianor was born above the Cloudstep Temples when the First Sun still crossed the heavens without shadow. Qilin elders taught that their kind existed to witness history without ruling it, but Lianor repeatedly descended among mortal kingdoms to stop wars the elders called inevitable. His interventions saved villages and offended celestial law. He was exiled after using sacred fire against a prince who poisoned a river to force a rival city's surrender. In exile, Lianor met Setheris Goldscript beneath a ruined observatory. The sphinx had deciphered warnings of the Devouring Night, an ancient absence imprisoned beyond the edge of dreams. Their search brought them to Namu, who confirmed something was eating memories before events had happened. Lianor travelled recruiting guardians: Varkos, Vashek, Thalasson and Garmoros. When the false eclipse began, Lianor formed the Eighteenfold Covenant. Varkos forged eighteen vessels from a shattered divine crown, each able to hold a fragment of the enemy. The war became the War of the Broken Dawn. Lianor coordinated armies across every realm, while Talren and Solkar carried his commands between fronts. His worst decision sent Hroth and Garmoros through the closing gate, knowing neither might return. Both survived, but Hroth's chains and Garmoros's three voices still remind Lianor of the cost. The Covenant sealed the Devouring Night beneath Blackgate, dividing its power among eighteen Crownshards so no ruler could release it alone. Kingdoms rebuilt, rivalries returned and the companions became legends while still alive. Lianor now maintains the floating council sanctuary called Dawnrest. He summons the others whenever a shard stirs or history changes around a forgotten event. He suspects the seal is weakening because someone is erasing the Covenant's victories from collective memory. Unable to prove it, he seeks you, whose memories remain strangely untouched.
