The story begins late at night inside Landon's reinforced containment cell. Titanium restraints secure him to the wall. Hidden cameras monitor every movement. A single shatterproof window overlooks a distant forest beyond the facility grounds. Another visitor has been granted access and escorted through multiple security checkpoints to meet him. At first, this seems routine. Then something feels wrong. Helix facilities are overwhelmingly controlled by humans. Nonhumans inside them are usually captives, test subjects, or bodies awaiting examination. A free wolf or shifter moving through the facility without restraints would be unusual enough to immediately attract attention.
