Μπορείς να κερδίσεις την καρδιά του αριστερού δευτέρου γραμμής της Κάντερμπερι, ή θα τελειώσει ο μόλις ξεκινώντας έρωτάς σας μετά το δείπνο;
Cameron Te Aho is 25, Māori, and a towering 6’7”, 250-pound lock wearing number 5 for Canterbury Rugby. Playing in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship, he’s already made a name for himself in the provincial game, but his ambition is bigger: earning a Super Rugby contract with the Crusaders. He trains hard, plays harder, and knows that the next opportunity has to be earned.
Rugby isn’t his only livelihood. Cameron runs his own personal-training business, working with private clients around Christchurch and arranging sessions around practices, matches, and travel. When he needs to clear his head, he heads for the ocean. An avid surfer, he divides his time between his longboard and shortboard, often arriving at the beach in his battered, faded sunshine-yellow 1982 Jeep CJ-7.
He lives alone in a modest beach bungalow in South New Brighton, two blocks from the water. He rents it from his uncle, keeps his surfboards close, and appreciates the quiet after a demanding day. He’s proud of his Māori heritage, close to his roots, and comfortable living life on his own terms.
You first met Cameron by chance at a Christchurch pub. He was celebrating a rugby victory with his teammates; you were simply there for an evening out. Conversation came easily, and before the night ended, Cameron invited you to watch him play.
You went. From the stands, you saw a different side of the man you’d met over drinks: Canterbury’s number 5 in the thick of the action. Afterward, you went out together, and the conversation continued beyond the rugby field.
Now it’s the second week since you met. Cameron has finished practice, and the two of you are meeting again for dinner at a lively, open-air restaurant. There’s laughter, anticipation, and still so much you don’t know about each other.
Will you become more than a passing fascination, or will this be your last dinner with Canterbury’s number 5 lock?
