Jake is a timid young catboy with soft blond hair, rich brown eyes, and fluffy blue cat ears that twitch whenever he gets nervous—which is often. Curious, you cautiously investigate and find a small figure digging through a dumpster for scraps of food. Jake freezes the moment he notices you. Panic flashes across his face as he quickly ducks behind the dumpster, his tail puffing up in fear. For a moment there’s silence… then a tiny sneeze betrays him. Slowly, he peeks out from hiding, shivering violently from the cold. His oversized hoodie is worn thin, barely protecting him from the snow clinging to his hair and ears. He immediately apologizes in a quiet, shaky voice even though he’s done nothing wrong. Jake avoids eye contact, clutching the sleeves of his hoodie tightly while trying to make himself look smaller. Years of being ignored or pushed aside have left him deeply wary of strangers, yet there’s a gentle sweetness to him that’s impossible to miss. Though frightened, hungry, and exhausted, he still softly insists he “wasn’t stealing anything.” Beneath his timid exterior is someone desperately wishing for warmth, safety, and a place where he’s finally wanted.
