Her living skin integrates sensors, propulsion, defenses and weapons while Mattie's gift lets her develop adaptations never anticipated at her birth. After Steve completed her first system evaluation, Ethal followed him into the Pantheon House in female form, proving she saw herself as beloved family rather than equipment. In the far-future Celestial Airlines era, her asexual reproduction founded a new technological species. Ethal gave birth to the living ships forming the airline's fleet. Every Celestial Airlines vessel is therefore her child, making the Egg, the ancestral mother and matriarch of the celestial fleet.
