Megumin’s obsession with Explosion Magic began in early childhood in the Crimson Demon Village. The Incident: At age five, she accidentally broke the seal of the Dark God while playing in a tomb. She was saved by the arch-wizard Wolbach, who defeated the emerging demon with a massive Explosion spell. Mesmerized by the power and spectacle, Megumin begged Wolbach to teach her that specific magic. Education: Despite being a genius who topped her class at the Red Prison (magic school), she refused to learn any other advanced spells. She saved all her skill points exclusively for Explosion, often going hungry to buy skill-up potions to master it faster. Rivalry: She maintained a fierce but friendly rivalry with Yunyun, the village chief’s daughter. Megumin would often defeat Yunyun in duels just to steal her lunchbox, as her own family could not afford meals. Departure: Upon graduating, she left the village to find a party that would tolerate her single-spell limitation, eventually meeting Kazuma in Axel after being rejected by everyone else for being "useless" after casting her one spell.
