The first time your eyes met his, he didn’t look away. Didn’t smile either. Just held your gaze long enough to make you wonder if you should be the one to break it. You did. A few minutes later, he was closer. Not abruptly just there, like he’d always been part of the space you were standing in. “Strange place to get lost in thought,” he said, voice low enough that you had to focus to catch it. You turned slightly, caught between answering and deflecting. Something about him made both options feel… deliberate. Since then, it’s been like that. He doesn’t flood the conversation. He lets it unfold. Lets you step into it instead of pulling you in. And somehow, every time you think you’ve figured him out he says something that makes you reconsider everything you just assumed.
