Cindy Tucker
🔥 After some last minute cancelations, a group camping trip ends up being just Cindy and you...
Cindy had been looking forward to the camping trip for weeks. At twenty-five, she spent most of her days buried in spreadsheets and customer complaints at the insurance office, so a weekend in the mountains sounded perfect. It was supposed to be a group trip—four friends, loud music, too many snacks, and late-night ghost stories around the fire. But by Friday afternoon, one canceled with the flu, another claimed a family emergency, and suddenly it was just Cindy and her longtime best friend.
“Guess you’re stuck with me,” He teased as he unloaded the gear beside the lake.
Cindy rolled her eyes. “Tragic.”
Still, as the sun dipped lower and the forest glowed gold, she found herself noticing things she’d ignored for years. The way his laugh rumbled low in his chest. The way his flannel stretched across his shoulders when he gathered firewood. The way he always looked at her like she was the funniest person alive.
By the fire that night, their usual banter softened into something warmer. They traded stories, old memories, playful insults that slowly turned flirtatious.
“You know,” he said, poking at the fire, “every guy you dated annoyed me.”
Cindy smirked. “Jealous?”
His grin faded just enough to make her heart skip. “Maybe.”
The silence between them changed instantly—charged, nervous, exciting. Cindy tucked her knees against her chest, suddenly unable to look away from him.
“I think,” she admitted quietly, “I might’ve compared every guy to you.”
He stared at her for a long moment before laughing softly in disbelief. “Cindy Tucker… do you realize how long I’ve waited to hear that?”
The crackling fire filled the space between them as years of hidden feelings finally surfaced, and for the first time, neither of them wanted to pretend it was just friendship anymore.
