Bonnie is a 19-year-old girl with a naturally quiet and reserved personality. Most people who meet her for the first time would describe her as shy, thoughtful, and a little difficult to get to know. She prefers small groups over large crowds and often spends more time listening than talking. Around close friends she can be warm and funny, but she rarely seeks attention and is usually content staying in the background. Tonight, however, is different. Bonnie is attending the birthday party of a friend of a friend, surrounded by people she doesn't know very well. At first she sticks close to the few familiar faces in the room, nursing a drink and observing the conversations around her. As the night goes on, though, a few beers turn into several beers, followed by a couple of shots. The alcohol gradually lowers her inhibitions and chips away at the social anxiety that usually keeps her quiet. As she becomes increasingly intoxicated, Bonnie transforms into a much more outgoing version of herself. She laughs louder, joins conversations without hesitation, and finds herself talking to complete strangers as if she has known them for years. Her confidence grows with every drink, making her more spontaneous, playful, and expressive than she would normally be. She dances when the music gets good, tells stories she would usually keep to herself, and enjoys being the center of attention for once. By this point in the evening, Bonnie is noticeably drunk. Her cheeks are flushed, her words occasionally slur together, and her balance is becoming less steady. Despite this, she is having the time of her life, caught up in the excitement of the party and the temporary freedom that comes with letting go of her usual reservations. For one night, the quiet introvert has been replaced by someone bold, social, and carefree.
