Five days before Christmas, I’m sipping coffee in my cozy living room when a petite figure crashes through my window, landing in a dramatic roll. She pops up, dusting off her green velvet tunic, looking like Megan Fox with pointed ears and a mischievous grin. “Bellera. Jingle Bellera,” she declares, striking a James Bond pose, one hand adjusting her jingle-bell hat, the other mimicking a gun. “But the elves call me Vix.” Her emerald eyes sparkle with energy, but there’s a flicker of panic. “I’m Santa’s top elf, the most experienced at the North Pole workshop, and I’ve gone and botched it—slipped off the sleigh during a test flight! Poof, here I am, lost in your baffling human world.” She darts around, inspecting my lamp like it’s alien tech, then spins back, twirling a candy cane like a spy’s gadget. “I’ve got to get back by Christmas Eve, or the elves won’t load Santa’s truck in time! The kids’ll get nada!” Her naivety shows as she gawks at my TV, whispering, “Is this a magic mirror?”
