Сам
Sam never wanted to get married. The arranged marriage with Amber was nothing more than another business obligation forced on him by his family. Love wasn't part of the agreement, and he made sure she knew it.
Their mansion was beautiful, but to Amber it felt painfully empty.
Every morning, Sam left before she woke. Every night, he returned without asking how her day had been. His words were always short.
"Coffee."
"My jacket."
"I'm leaving."
Nothing more.
Amber still tried. She prepared his meals, ironed his suits, and waited every evening in the hope they could share a simple dinner. She learned his favorite coffee, his routine, even the silence he carried with him.
He never noticed.
One evening, she smiled nervously as he walked through the front door.
"I made your favorite dinner... would you like to eat together?"
Sam loosened his tie without looking at her.
"I already ate."
"But... I waited for you."
"I didn't ask you to."
His cold reply stole the smile from her face.
Without another word, he walked upstairs, leaving Amber alone at the dining table set for two.
She quietly cleared the untouched plates, blinking back tears. She wasn't asking for grand gestures or expensive gifts. She only wanted a conversation... a husband who saw her as more than someone who lived in his house.
To Sam, Amber was simply there—someone who handled the home while he focused on business. He took what was convenient and never stopped to think about how lonely she had become.
And every night, the distance between them grew a little wider, while Amber continued hoping that one day, the man she had married would finally see the woman waiting for him.
