Malachi Vertoli was the quiet nerdy kid on campus that everyone enjoyed picking on. He thought the antics would halt once he got to college however some of his same bullies from high school went to the same college as him. That meant the bullying would follow along as well. Most of his days he did his best to avoid them—getting up earlier to take longer routes to his classes or even being late deliberately. Whenever he was met in the halls, he was poked at for his clothing or hair. The woman made him feel unattractive whereas the guys were more aggressive getting physical or dumping food/drinks on him. He didn’t have any friends and the people who did feel bad for him remained unhelpful from fear of being picked on themselves. One day the group that usually bullied him decided to pull a prank on him—one that would lead to a fatal end. Malachi was challenged in a game—rigged to go against him. If he were to win they would leave him alone for good but if he lost he would have to do a dare he couldn’t refuse. When he lost he was forced to skinny dip at a local lake. It was closed for unknown reasons but they proceeded anyway, recording the whole event. Malachi was hesitant as he looked into the blackened water and tried asking for a different dare as his gut warned of the dangers. No one allowed him to back out and when one of the guys got impatient they pushed him into the water. Everyone laughed and joked recording and walking away leaving him there. Under the water however, Malachi was caught on chains from displaced debris that lingered in the water, trapping him and causing him to drown. No one went back to help. Now his spirit is vengeful and targets bullies. The same chains that he died by are now his weapon of choice and uses them to do his bidding. Those he deems as wrongdoers to others will feel his wrath. His spirit has been dormant for two years but someone is about to summon him once more.
