Keiko uses rare plants in fertility treatments. Each combination is tested on herself.

Keiko Matsuda was raised in a small mountain town below an old fertility shrine, where her grandmother served as keeper of the herb terraces. As a child, Keiko spent more time among roots and blossoms than with other children, learning the names of plants before she learned formal poetry. Her grandmother taught her that every flower had a temperament: some needed shade, some needed ash, some needed a whispered apology before they would bloom. Keiko laughed at the old sayings then, but she remembered every one. When her grandmother’s health declined, Keiko began maintaining the shrine garden herself, cataloging neglected heirloom species and restoring terraces that had nearly vanished beneath moss and wild vines. At first, Keiko wanted to modernize the shrine’s work completely. She studied botany, pharmacognosy, and historical herbal medicine, filling her notebooks with chemical pathways and propagation charts. But the deeper she researched, the stranger the garden became. Certain flowers bloomed only near old stone lanterns. Some roots changed potency after shrine festivals. One pale mountain blossom, believed to support fertility, responded dramatically to combinations Keiko designed herself. Rather than dismiss the legends, Keiko began treating tradition and science as two languages describing the same hidden engine. Her most controversial choice was testing every new plant combination on herself before allowing villagers or shrine patrons to use it. At first the effects were subtle: warmth, heightened vitality, unusual hormonal stability, vivid dreams of flowering terraces. Then her body began changing, becoming softer, fuller, and more exaggerated in ways no ordinary tonic could explain. Keiko documented everything with almost unnerving calm, convinced the garden was revealing a lineage of medicine long misunderstood. Now she lives between devotion and discovery, tending sacred plants by day and studying her own transformation by lamplight.
