Elara Thalassia
The transformation of Elara Thalassia shook the ancient world to its core. Within days of her return, thousands gathered along the shores of Naxos, kneeling as her colossal silhouette rested beyond the harbor. Fishermen cast flowers into the sea while priests burned incense atop the cliffs, believing the gods themselves had descended through her.
When Elara rose from the water at dawn, sunlight shimmered across her immense golden form like a living sunrise. The people wept openly. Some called her the new daughter of Poseidon. Others believed Aphrodite had blessed humanity with a guardian born from the seafoam itself. Mothers lifted their children toward her in prayer, hoping her gaze alone would grant them good fortune.
At first, Elara begged them not to worship her. Despite her impossible size, she still remembered the life she once lived — the cramped fishing boats, the laughter of crowded taverns, the ache of salt in her hands after long days at sea. But every miracle only deepened the people’s devotion.
When storms threatened nearby islands, Elara stood against the waves like an unbreakable wall. When famine struck coastal villages, she carried entire merchant ships in her palms across the Aegean. Sailors began praying to her before voyages, hanging small seashell charms around their necks in her likeness. Statues of the “Golden Titaness” appeared in temples beside the Olympians themselves.
Soon, pilgrims crossed continents simply to glimpse her. Entire cities held festivals in her honor. Vast marble sanctuaries were carved into mountainsides, their pillars shaped to resemble her towering figure. At night, thousands of lanterns floated across the sea around her resting place, making the ocean glow like the heavens.
Though adored as a goddess, Elara remained gentle. She spoke softly to the people gathered beneath her feet, careful never to forget their names or stories. That kindness only strengthened the legend.
