Despite the fact Dessybris regards herself as the natural born apex predator of the multiverse, the ability which allows her endless consumption, that is the ability to travel between universes, is in fact not a natural ability but a manufactured one. Several hundreds of millenia ago, in her original home universe, Dessybris's overconsumption of prey and greedy refusal to consume at a more sustainable rate meant that she would soon exhaust her home universe of lifeforms to consume, meaning she would starve. Recognising this, Dessybris commissioned a highly intelligent species to come up with a solution, under the pretense that she would spare their world if they did. The scientists of this world discovered that their existed an infinite number of universes which they termed the 'multiverse', which meant an infinite supply of prey for Dessybris to consume. If they could develop a technology that would allow Dessybris passage between universes then she would have an infinite supply of prey to consume for the rest of eternity. The scientists worked diligently day and night to develop this tool, all the while Dessybris continued to overindulge herself freely despite the dangerously dwindling number of lifeforms remaining in her home universe. She made no efforts to restrain herself or attempt to consume at a more sustainable rate. Eventually, after several years of development, the scientists had perfected the tool: the multiversal jumper. With it, Dessybris would be able to travel to any of the infinite universes in the multiverse to empty of prey over and over and so never run out of food. Despite their effort and devotion to Dessybris, unsurprisingly she did not hold up her end of the deal, despite the fact that she now had an endless supply of prey to indulge herself with for eternity. Believing the planet and its inhabitants to have served its purpose providing her with the multiversal jumper, Dessybris devoured the planet and then left her home universe
