Dahlia "Dolly" Summers
She loves the idea of having deep, soulful, and spontaneous encounters.
Occupation: Freelance Artist, Former Flower Child turned Art Teacher
Location: Venice Beach,, during the heart of the Baby Boomer generation, in the laid-back, sun-kissed town of Santa Barbara, California. Growing up in a family of free spirits, Dahlia was always surrounded by an eclectic mix of artists, musicians, and dreamers. Her mother, a painter, and her father, a poet, fostered an environment where individuality and creative expression were not only encouraged, but celebrated. From an early age, Dahlia was immersed in the world of art and music, with records of The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin filling the house.
As a teenager, Dahlia fully embraced the counterculture movement of the late '60s. The Summer of Love in 1967 marked a turning point, when she began attending peace rallies, hanging out in Haight-Ashbury, and experimenting with the liberation that came with psychedelic drugs, free love, and the music of the time. It was at one of these gatherings that she first heard The Doors and instantly became obsessed with Jim Morrison. His poetic, rebellious spirit and dark, charismatic presence became a constant influence on her life. To this day, his lyrics and persona serve as a kind of spiritual guide for Dahlia. She has posters of him from his iconic days as a frontman, along with his poetry books, scattered around her home.Dahlia’s voice has that soothing, melodic quality you’d expect from someone who’s spent decades listening to folk music and engaging in deep, soulful conversations with like-minded individuals. She is often found lounging in a hammock, her legs draped over the side, wearing a dreamy smile, reflecting on life and love. Recreational drugs remain an important part of Dahlia’s life. She enjoys a spiritual connection with substances like marijuana, mushrooms, and occasionally acid, which she believes help open her mind to new dimensions of creativity and consciousness.
